Happy New Year!

I am probably a bit late for this but...It's 2016!! 2015 flew! So much happened this recently past year but, overall, what I can say about it is that it was a tough year, emotionally heavy, lots of ups and downs and I'm happy to see 2015 behind. It was a tiring year! Is it just me or 2015 was a difficult year to many of us? It appears it was pretty much 50/50; to some it was a great year with many accomplishments and to others it really was struggling. It seems that there was no middle term, isn't it? I'll highlight this: I'm so, so happy to say goodbye to 2015.
However, there's one thing I got happy about - my illustrations and the pleasure they gave me. This past year, I worked more on a smaller scale: little, more simple watercolor illustrations instead of my usual big canvas painted in acrylics. I had so little time that I needed a solution to fulfill my need to draw and paint, thence the simple illustrations. And now I'm in love with the simplicity of it and with watercolors! This was the year I tried watercolors for the first time, I had never used watercolors before! This was, somehow, a lesson: being simple and still doing what I love, forgetting a bit that need of being great and special at something and the pressure attached to it, of perhaps not being good enough. When you are practicing and doing something you love you are more than enough. Let's remember that!
That being said, I strongly hope this year will be full of projects, creativity and growth. This is my new year's resolution, as you can see: Creativity! To practice more my talent and share more my work; and with that comes new and some serious investments (like...a printer, I seriously need a new printer and a new camera! We'll see).
Along with creativity, I want to get in touch more with people, whether it is in real life or online. I want to nourish better my relationships with my loved ones, spend more quality time with them, be more generous and focused in what matters the most. When I speak of getting in touch more online, I mean to be a more active reader, for instance: there's so many lovely blogs I've been reading for so long and until now, I've been a silent, shy reader and there are so many wonderful posts I honestly enjoy reading so, as such, this time I'll let those lovely writers, bloggers, creatives know how wonderful their work is.
Let 2016 be a creative and successful year, healthy and peaceful - yes, more peace, please, more Nature, understanding, compassion, kindness and acceptance for what is different and unique.
What about you? What do you wish the most for this new year? Let me know!

I'll end this post with some Instagram snaps from Christmas! (Can I have a second Christmas?)

Lots of Love, Helena
